Hempassion: The Stage is Set for CBD
CBD. You may have heard the abbreviation before. But how many people actually know what CBD stands for? In fact, how many people know what CBD even is? On June 19th, One Media & Events hosted the monthly Startup Grind Fireside Chat at the World Trade Center, Gibraltar, with the aim of finally putting this CBD mystery to bed. Our invited guest was David Martinez, local Entrepreneur and founder of local CBD startup, Hempassion. Joined on stage by Hempassion’s legal adviser and Partner at Hassans International Law Firm, Anthony Provasoli, David talked through the process of building his CBD business locally, as well as explaining the benefits of CBD to the gathered audience.
Recently, the Government of Gibraltar announced its intention to regulate certain aspects of the research and use of medicinal cannabis in Gibraltar. As a result, One Media & Events, in collaboration with Startup Grind, couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to hear and share David’s story. The story of a startup breaking new ground locally. A company driven by a young, charismatic entrepreneur breaking into an emerging global industry. A CBD business in the heart of Gibraltar. This Startup Grind Fireside Chat set the stage for Hempassion.
In the intimate setting of the World Trade Centre Lobby, a gathering of local business people and entrepreneurs sat engrossed, hanging off David’s every word as he described Hempassion’s journey from concept to creation. As a business leading the way locally in changing cultural perceptions and opinions on cannabis-based products, this particular event was eye-opening for those in attendance.
David was able to bring clarity and demystify CBD (cannabidiol), its uses, and benefits as an option for helping treat the symptoms of anxiety and stress, as well as more serious conditions like multiple sclerosis. Hempassion makes, sells, and distributes a range of oils, creams, and e-liquids produced from a list of approved ingredients sourced from organic hemp farms in the EU.
Currently, Hempassion sell their products at a number of shops and pharmacies throughout Gibraltar, as well as directly from their website. However, more impressively, Hempassion already exports to six countries across Europe too.
Having already won the Gibraltar Federation of Small Business’ Innovation Award earlier this year, this event helped David and Hempassion gain further local exposure. The intimate nature of the Fireside Chat provided David with a great opportunity to network and gather some valuable contacts to help support him in his entrepreneurial endeavours.
