At OME, the work we do to manage events and PR means we’re on the pulse of Gibraltar’s corporate scene. This year, and this decade, have had a tremendous impact on the businesses and startup scene in Gibraltar.
The impact in the tech and financial sectors, in particular, is in fact worldwide. Gibraltar continues to play a role in innovative tech, allowing new technologies to thrive and make a global impact.

Another Year at Startup Grind Gibraltar Ends in Style
December’s Winter Party in aid of Childline Gibraltar celebrated the end of a year, and what a year it has been – 12 StartupGrind events in 12 months! It’s only a few short months until we celebrate three years of partnership with Startup Grind Gibraltar, during which we’ve organised all of their events. This year, there were a few events and celebrations that stood out:
Managing the UK Premiere of Coinsilium’s Trust Machine Documentary
For this private screening, we managed the UK premiere of blockchain documentary, Trust Machine for Coinsilium, in London at the Everyman Cinema. The private screening wasn’t the first event we’ve run, managed and promoted for Coinsilium. Our other notable events included the sell-out Gibraltar Blockchain Workshop. Trust Machine‘s UK premiere was intimate, informal, and comfortably nestled within the heart of London’s financial district with attendance by invitation-only. The premier was preceded by a presentation by Eddy Travia, CEO and Co-founder of Coinsilium, and then followed by a Q&A discussion joined by Malcolm Palle, Coinsilium Co-Founder and Chairman, and Karan Aswani, Senior Associate at Isolas.
SG Women Month Worldwide
We are champions of small business, and we are especially keen to support the wonderful initiatives and businesses run by women. Women Month Worldwide was a successful partnership we organised between Startup Grind Gibraltar and Girls in Tech Gibraltar, featuring a panel of local leading ladies. Working with Women in Business for IWD #BalanceForBetter
International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate the achievements of women and raise awareness of diversity and equality.
For 2019’s theme, Balance for Better, the events will highlight the part everyone has to play in building a gender-balanced world. OME managed and organised an International Women’s Day Gala Dinner in collaboration with Women In Business. The event was a marked success and featured leading local women as Forum Facilitators: Nyreen Llamas, CSO of Addison Global, Peter Mares, of Playtech and of Girls in Tech, Nuria Harjani from Intercash and Ruth Massias Greenberg of Gamma Architects.
The Hon. Albert Isola, Minister for Commerce on Gibraltar’s Tech Sector
OME’s Managing Director Denise Matthews interviewed the Honourable Albert Isola, Minister for Commerce, for Startup Grind’s January talk. His role in raising Gibraltar’s profile as a financial services centre will continue into 2020, and it’s a pleasure to look back at everything that has been accomplished this past year.
Other highlights from 2019 include the Gibraltar AmCham’s Thanksgiving Charity Gala and supporting the next generation of Gibraltar’s tech-savvy workforce with Stewart Harrison’s charity, the Gibraltar Digital Skills Foundation.

Going Global at the Global Conference in San Francisco
Gibraltar’s influence in the tech scene goes far beyond its borders and has global influence, particularly in new technologies. Director and Founder of OME, Denise Matthews, will be attending in the Global Conference this 11th and 12th February 2020 in San Francisco. This will be in support of Indorse, who are participating as part of the startup programme through their connections in Gibraltar.
